Background of the Study
Immunization campaigns are vital for improving public health and preventing vaccine-preventable diseases. In Katagum Local Government Area (LGA) of Bauchi State, achieving high immunization coverage remains a challenge due to cultural misconceptions, lack of awareness, and vaccine hesitancy. Community-based advertising has proven effective in addressing these challenges by using locally relevant messages, trusted channels, and grassroots engagement.
Studies by Usman and Abubakar (2024) emphasize that community-based advertising increases trust and participation in immunization campaigns. This approach leverages local influencers, vernacular messaging, and culturally sensitive visuals to ensure campaign success. This study examines the effectiveness of community-based advertising in driving immunization coverage in Katagum LGA, focusing on its impact on awareness and uptake.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Despite government efforts, immunization coverage in Katagum LGA remains suboptimal. Barriers such as misinformation, cultural beliefs, and logistical challenges undermine campaign effectiveness.
Community-based advertising is often underutilized, with many campaigns failing to resonate with local populations.
